The New York City Department of Education offers free breakfast and lunch to all NYC public school students during the school year.

Meals in the Classroom for All Students 

Students will pick up their "Grab and Go" breakfast upon arrival before going into their classroom. Students have free lunch available to them everyday in the cafeteria. Meals for 3K, Pre-K and Kindergarten will be delivered to the classrooms.

To help students prepare for making their meal choice for the day, we encourage parents/guardians to review the daily menu with your child before sending them to school.

Support School Funding

You do not need to apply for your child to receive meals. However, we do ask families to complete Family Income Inquiry Form(Open external link), which helps schools receive money for their programs. Your school will send a copy of this form home with your child, or you can get it from your school’s main office, or go to MySchoolApps to apply.
